Instructions: The purpose of the email that you are sending is to motivate important decision-makers to understand our perspective. Right now, the project could go either way, so we want them to know how important Thomaston Dam is to us.
Important:
- Do not blame the Arm Corps of Engineers – this is not their fault.
- Be polite and professional – we are trying to convince them to agree with us.
- Be sincere – What are the emotions/feelings you have about riding with friends and family?
- Don’t just copy our suggested language. You will have much more impact if you personalize your words.
- Talk about how often you buy gas, food, goods while in Thomaston.
Be aware: Your email will be going to elected state legislators, local politicians, and local groups like the Economic Development Commission. Keep this in mind for your writing.

- The Thomaston trails are the only legal place to ride in our state.
- While in Thomaston, I frequently visit gas stations, convenience stores, restaurants, and motorcycle shops.
- Please consider one or more of the other possible routes for the greenway that do not disturb the trail bike area.
